INTRODUCING YOURSELF AND OTHERS

Conversation: Meeting for the First Time

Teacher: Good morning, students! Today, we’ll practice how to introduce ourselves and others.
Amina: Hello! My name is Amina. What’s your name?
Ali: Hi, Amina! My name is Ali. Nice to meet you.
Amina: Nice to meet you too, Ali. Where are you from?
Ali: I’m from Hargeisa. And you?
Amina: I’m from Berbera. How old are you, Ali?
Ali: I’m twelve years old. What about you?
Amina: I’m thirteen. It’s nice to have a new friend!
Teacher: Great job, Amina and Ali! That’s how we introduce ourselves politely.

Story: A New Friend in Class

It was the first day of school. Fatima walked into her classroom and saw a new student sitting alone.
She smiled and said, “Hello! My name is Fatima. What’s your name?”
The new girl replied, “Hi, I’m Hodan. I’m new here.”
Fatima said kindly, “Welcome to our school, Hodan! Where are you from?”
“I’m from Borama,” Hodan said shyly.
Fatima smiled. “That’s nice! Let me introduce you to my friends.”
She called Amina and Ali over. “This is my new friend Hodan. She’s from Borama.”
Amina said, “Nice to meet you, Hodan!” and Ali added, “Welcome to our class!”
Hodan felt happy and said, “Thank you all. I think this will be a wonderful year!”

Moral: A friendly introduction can create a new friendship.
